Live Music

This past week's storm ruined a couple of shoots I had scheduled. I was able to rescheduled both sessions for April. So no new pictures to post today. But I do have something to post.

I am a huge live music fan. I enjoy concerts very much but what I really like is smaller intimate shows. Anyone remember Manhattans in Colorado Springs? It's closed now. I seen some very cool bands there a couple of my favorite ones were The Nixon's and Seven Mary Three. Or shows at the Joint in Las Vegas. Just smaller venues sometimes make the shows better.

Anyway I ran across a website called Live From Daryl's House. The Daryl is Daryl Hall from the 80's band Hall and Oats. Remember them? You member. Member. The website is basically a show. Daryl invites musicians and/or bands to his place in up state New York. They get together and play some music. Daryl has his band there and they work with the visiting artist on their songs. The current show up is with Matt Nathanson who has the hit song "Come On Get Higher". I will definitely be using this song for an up come engagement session slide show. I think its perfect for that type of slide show. Other artist have been Gym Class Hero's and Finger Eleven. Take a look at the website its like being in the same room with the musicians and watching them play. Very cool and intimate.

If you haven't noticed I do like music. Especially when its played to my images. I'm bias. I really like to hear what song a newly married couple picked for their first dance. Now since I'm at a lot of weddings I hear the same songs over and over. Not that there's anything wrong with it but I think its just so cool when a couple has a song that's more theirs so to speak. A unique song or one that is not played out.

I'm Patrick and I'm a Lady Gaga fan.

I know I posted before about Lady Gaga's first song "Just Dance" and recommended it for any and all wedding receptions. I have now found out I like another Lady Gaga song. Its her new release "Poker Face". Listening to the song I discovered that the song has nothing to do with poker.

She also has another song on her album called "The Fame", which happens to be the name of the album, that I like.

Listen and enjoy.

Busy week.

This past week was very busy. I have been working on orders and playing in Photoshop. If you read the blog you know I attended a Photoshop workshop last Monday. It was great and I learned a lot. Since then I have been living in Photoshop using putting my new skills to work. The workshop covered work flow, overlays, textures, albums, etc.. The part I think will make my business better and better for my clients is the textures and albums. The part that will help me is incorporating the new work flow. I like Photoshop but don't want to spend all my time editing pictures. Weddings take up a lot of time editing due to the high number of pictures.
I also very excited for my upcoming weddings and portrait sessions to put my new skills to the test.

This picture was taken about 30 mins. before the workshop started. It was a sold out event.

Photoshop Workshop

As a photographer at a wedding, senior shoot others are always looking for me to know what I'm doing. I do consider myself an expert even though I do have my strengths I also have my weaknesses. I am very confident in my ability and my clients have been very happy with the results. This does not stop me from learning new skills, sharping old skills, and addressing those weaknesses. There is nothing I like more, other then actually shooting a wedding, portraits, etc..., then attending workshops about photography.

I was unable to attend WPPI in Las Vegas this year and have been hoping some workshops would be taking place in my area that could fit into my schedule. Which brings me to the workshop I will be attending tomorrow in Denver, Co. The workshop will be given by JB Salle a photographer from Dallas, Tx. I have been a big fan of his work for a few years now.

The workshop will cover Photoshop and other photography related things:) I do consider Photoshop a weakness of mine even though I have over 5 years experience using it and have read books and taken classes. There is just so much to learn in Photoshop. I am very excited to be learning some new skills and sharping old ones as well.

If there are any photographers who read my blog and will be attending the workshop I am trying to setup a get together after maybe grad some dinner. If anyone knows of a good restaurant in the area let me know. Also if your unable to attend the get together make sure you say hi. I'm always wanting to meet other photographers who like to talk shop.

If your not yet registered you will need to do so ASAP. Go to I Photoshop People Tour and follow instructions. The workshop will be held at The Marriott Denver Tech Center, 4900 S. Syracuse.

If anyone will be trying to contact me tomorrow expect a return call, e-mail and/or text Tuesday.

Hope to see you there.

CNBC Takedown

Rick Santelli was a planned guest on The Daily Show but he backed out. So the show decided to make Santelli and CNBC pay. It's very funny and who couldn't use a laugh especially nowadays. Is 'nowadays' one word? Sorry I was distracted. Anyway, enjoy the video.
