Wedding: Details

Details of a wedding are very important. And it's important to document the details.

As the wedding day starts I have a shot list in my head of all the details I need to take. Most of the detail shots will be placed in the wedding album. Most of the time the couple and/or family will not purchase these pictures. When they do order pictures it's usually of the wedding dress, rings, cake and reception venue before people arrive.

Remember the couple have been planning their special day. They have spent time picking the dress, flowers, rings, shoes, the cake, center pieces, venue, the band/DJ, etc.. So they want to see it. The details help tell the story of their special day.

I make it a point to talk with the couple way before the wedding to make sure they know I will be shooting the dress, rings, shoes, etc.. so they are not surprised when I am asking for these items before they put them on. When I am shooting the dress or rings I try to knock them out very quickly. People get kinda nervous when these items are running around and I'm not in the business of stressing out my couples or families.

The fun part is trying to come up with creative ways to shoot these items.
